Six staff have left Leeds-based insurance brokerage Smithson Mason Group to join the general insurance division of Beaumont Robinson.

The six had previously formed part of Smithson's new business development team but have signed a non-competition agreement and are expected to work with their old department in the future.

Smithson, which recently secured the transfer of 400 smaller agencies, said the departure was amicable.

The company is currently on an acquisition drive and is expected to make considerable growth this year.
