AA Insurance says check calls from police now 500 a month

AA Insurance has said delays updating the motor insurance database has meant the number of calls it receives from police checking a vehicle is insured has risen from one or two a month to 500.

Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, says: "We have certainly noticed a big increase in the number of calls from the MID and the police to confirm that a customer is insured after being stopped. A couple of years ago we would get one or two such calls a month - now it's around 500 calls a month."
