Staffordshire intermediary Lloyd Manley has to date uncovered seven working men's clubs that it has charged excessive administration fees.

Lloyd Manley launched an internal investigation into its accounts last week, after Insurance Times revealed that it had overcharged £700 in fees to the West Sutton Labour Club in St Helens for two years running.

Director John Bateman said: “We have not finished the investigation yet, but we do not expect there to be too many other incidents.

“The seven clubs have been informed and the money, ranging from £200 up to £700, refunded.”

Groupama, which is the main insurer for Lloyd Manley's working men's clubs policies, will this week be conducting an audit of the intermediary's accounts. The investigation will be carried out by two senior managers.

Broker John Beard, which has some 50 clubs insured through its Clubsure scheme through Lloyd Manley, is also conducting an investigation. It claims to have discovered several cases of excessive fee-charging by Lloyd Manley.
