Be Wiser insurance pledges to avoid use of aggregators

Start-up intermediary Be Wiser insurance has selected CDL as its software partner to provide internet and back office solutions. It has also launched a website, www.bewiser.co.uk.

CDL will provide the online quotation platform for Be Wiser, enabling customers to purchase either online or over the phone.

Be Wiser has a marketing budget of over £14m for its first five years.

Be Wiser insurance chairman Mark Bower-Dyke said: “Our intention is to use the latest technology to bring broking back into our market place. The insurance market has moved in the last five years and has become a place where the selling of client information has become more important than servicing and generally looking after the client.

"CDL and its functionality enables us to give the service that our clients and suppliers deserve, and to build an environment where the client knows who his broker is and that they are there to help and advise him.”

Be Wiser has pledged to maintain the privacy of client data (rather than selling it on to third parties) and to operate as an independent broker with direct customer relationships rather than through the use of aggregators.

Commenting on the deal, CDL general manager Rick Slater said: “CDL has long been the leader for internet broking services and we are committed to continuing to develop new, advanced functionality for this channel. We are delighted to be working with Be Wiser Insurance and look forward to supporting it in growing its business.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
