Universal Salvage has launched an internet version of STAT US, its vehicle control and reporting system.

It will allow insurers to keep tabs on the vehicles held by the company, details such as the number of vehicles awaiting clearance, location and how long they have been held. Problem vehicles can be traced on screen, and the reason for the delay in their process identified. Insurers will be able to access records of their own vehicles through an extranet. The information will be protected by an encrypted ID code.

Next month, Universal Salvage will trial an electronic disputes system with a leading motor insurer, which will enable insurers and Universal Salvage to discuss disputes. The system will offer a fully automatic audit trial and once a dispute is settled it will be instantly relayed to the relevant insurance claims department.
