Credit insurer Euler Trade Indemnity has announced the appointment of former Amey director Richard Webster as chief executive.

The government-backed Troika aviation insurance scheme has been extended by a month to the end of September. Fees for airlines have been increased. From 30 August, there will be a tiered charging system for passenger airlines.

Cargo airlines, airports and others will be unaffected. Cover from $50m to $500m will continue to be available at a rate of 50 cents a passenger. Airlines wanting cover from $500m to $1bn will be charged an extra 20 cents a passenger.

TT Club chief officer
TT Club has appointed Colin Lewin as chief operating officer, effective from 1 October. Lewin, currently Asia Pacific regional manager for TT Club, will take over the operational management of underwriting and claims in order to leave chief executive Paul Neagle free to manage the strategic development of the business, following its planning initiative last year with Ernst & Young.

St Paul panel
St Paul Insurance has refuted claims made in a legal magazine that it is cutting its panel of solicitors. "We have a number of different law firms that work with us on various classes of business we write, but we avoid using a panel," a spokesman said.

Roofer cover
One broker has broken ranks, saying he can place as much roofing liability as he wants, despite the capacity shortage in the construction sector. Laing & Company managing director Stuart Laing said he could place roofers, from one-man bands to large contractors, with two composite insurers and at Lloyd's.

Tracker recoveries
Stolen vehicle recovery Tracker recovered £2.3m worth of vehicles in July, an increase of more than a third on the same month in 2001.Theft of vehicles involving keys also increased.
