Aviva revolt
Some CGNU shareholders are expected to refuse to back the proposed name change to Aviva at the insurer's annual meetingnext Monday.

The proposal is likely to be unpopular because of the perceived expense and disruption it would cause.

It provoked widespread criticism in the press when it was announced in late February. Other organisations with the name have been discovered, including a Canadian lesbian website, a London feminist group and an Argentinian tea. CGNU said it remains confident that enough members will vote for the name change in the crucial vote.

"It's time for ministers to honour the promises they have made about new laws, new crimes and new funding," he said.
