NHS accidentsAccidents involving NHS staff are costing £170m a year in sick leave and compensation payments, according to a Commons public accounts committee report. The report said that there were more than 135,000 NHS accidents in 2002, up by more than a third on 2001.

Investigation dropThe European Commission has dropped its investigation into the regulation of Lloyd's. Lloyd's Names claimed that insufficient regulation of the UK insurance market was to blame for the near collapse of the market in the 1990s.
