Zurich Personal Insurances has appointed David Swann to take overall charge of its underwriting services.
Swann has been promoted from his role as underwriting manager for property and motor products. He successfully led the integration of the underwriting departments of Zurich and British American Financial Services after the companies merged in 1998.
He has also been involved in developing EDI systems for Zurich's Eagle Star wing and the relaunch of Zurich's Car Solutions product last October.
Swann joined Eagle Star, then part of British American Financial Services, in 1978 before transferring to its London head office in 1980.
A succession of underwriting posts followed, including fleet business, until he joined the post-merger management team at Zurich 16 months ago.
