Broker plans further aquisition this month

Swinton has bought the general insurance book of business from Harrington Bates.

Swinton will use its local branch in Harrogate to deal with personal clients while larger commercial clients will be dealt with from its regional commercial centre in Leeds.

The deal was Swinton’s twelfth of 2013 and the broker said it would complete a further acquisition this month.

Commercial lines account for about 10% of Swinton’s turnover £301m turnover and it plans to grow its commercial book to 15% of its total in the next three years.

Harrington Bates is now solely focused on its specialist teacher scheme.
