Swiss giant storms ahead

Swiss insurance giant Winterthur parent group of NIG Skandia and direct writer Churchill has reported a net profit of £43m, up 22% from 1998.

However, the improved performance masked severe weather-related losses in Switzerland and neighbouring countries.
