More risky business from insurers will push up reinsurance

Swiss Re chief executive Stefan Lippe said expects higher prices for the January reinsurance renewal season, Dow Jones reports.

"The market fundamentals point toward higher prices," Lippe said during a presentation at an investor conference. But Lippe added that "the recovery of industry capital and absence of hurricanes may partially delay the market correction."

Swiss Re expects insurers to transfer more risky business to reinsurers, pushing up prices.
