The new Swiss Re building at 30 St Mary Axe has been hailed as a masterpiece of modern, environmentally friendly design. With its sweeping, graceful lines and distinctive shape it has become a City landmark.
Yet despite the cutting edge design and the hundreds of millions of pounds spent on its construction, Swiss Re employees were shocked to discover that their new building had a quite fundamental flaw - there were no handles on any of the cupboards or drawers. No doubt a hurried trip to Ikea followed to enable the staff to store their coffee cups.
The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
