Portal providers The Exchange will now offer comparative quotes on private medical insurance (PMI) via its Exweb system, it announced today.
The extension to include PMI, launched in the first half of 2005, will compete Exweb's coverage of the major product lines, the company said.
The Exchange said it was responding to demand from independent financial advisers.
“Of the 800 firms questioned by The Exchange, 53% do not currently sell PMI policies but 71% did expect to sell them over the next 12 months,” the company said.
The PMI quote service on Exweb will cost IFAs £1.50 per quote or £18 per month for unlimited use.
