Service to help SME's meet EU energy performance buildings directive

Towergate Partnership today launched a new energy certification service designed to help SME’s meet the requirements of the European energy performance buildings directive which came into force earlier this year.

The new directive requires all types of property in the UK to have in place an appropriate energy certificate which provides an energy efficiency rating and suggestions on how to improve energy efficiency of the building.

The certificate is required on the construction or substantial modification/extension of a building; on the sale or letting of a building; on an annual basis for all public buildings over 1000sqm.

Towergate has selected Personal Touch Energy Surveyors (PTES) as their partner to provide a professional and competitively priced energy certification service.

PTES boasts a national team of appropriately qualified and accredited energy surveyors who will provide clients with the required Energy Performance or Display Energy Certificate, along with a simple report and advice on how to improve energy efficiency.

Matthew Reed, sales & marketing director for Towergate Risk Solutions said: “We recognise the implications of this new legislation to our large SME client base and have responded accordingly by introducing a service which fully meets the requirements of the new Directive. It also demonstrates our ability to offer an added value service to our clients which will provide them with the peace of mind they need.”

Dev Malle, director of PTES said: “We’re delighted to be teaming up with Towergate to offer this important service to its commercial clients. Both Towergate and PTES which is part of the Personal Touch Group have an unrivalled regional presence through which we can provide clients with a local and trusted service. We see Towergate as an important addition to our corporate partners.”
