Annual travel policies are on the rise as Britain becomes an increasingly wealthy nation of holidaymakers.

Club Direct reckons sales of annual travel policies have grown by 70% more than sales of single trip policies. And the company says its own research is backed up by official government figures.

Travel figures from the Office of National Statistics released this week show that the number of foreign trips increased by 5% on the previous year with 53.6 million UK residents travelling abroad. This was backed by strong economic figures.

"The latest government figures show high levels of employment, increased earnings, and a growing level of foreign travel," says Brent Escott, Club Direct's managing director.

The firm's research, conducted among 1,000 holidaymakers found that 70% took two or more holidays a year with 23% taking three or more and 10% taking four or more.
