Moneysupermarkt.com attacks “broad brush attitude”
European travellers turning 66 face a 109% increase in single trip travel insurance premiums compared to those aged 65, with annual polices rising an average of 102%, Moneysupermarket.com claims.
There is another “shock for the wallet” for Brits turning 70 years old - adding a further 24% to single trip premiums and 12% to annual policies.
Moneysupermarket.com called the price hike “punishing” and called on insurers to change their “broad brush attitude towards older travellers”.
“Retired Brits planning on seeing the world at their leisure continue to be punished with high travel insurance costs on the grounds of their age,” it said.
