MGAA boss Reg Brown hails new member

UK General Insurance has joined the Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA).

UK General chief executive Peter Hubbard (pictured) said the decision reflected “the growing importance of the sector within the UK insurance industry, and a recognition that it is important for MGAs to have a representative voice in the various arenas and other bodies within the UK market”.

He added: “We are the UK’s largest specialist MGA, and a market leader in the schemes market and other specialist lines; I look forward to UK General making a significant contribution to the MGAA’s agenda.

“One area where we believe the MGAA can play a useful role is in the sharing of best practice between MGAs. MGAs are a growth sector and are currently responsible for more than 10% of premium income in the UK general insurance market. There are a number of emerging MGA business models to manage this growth, and the opportunity to share best practice through the MGAA is something we would welcome.”

MGAA chairman Reg Brown said: “We are delighted to welcome one of the leading players in the MGA market to the association. The MGAA is going from strength to strength and we look forward to working with UK General to promote the interests of MGAs among insurers, regulators, brokers and other stakeholders.”
