Guy Morrison heads team exiting THB subsidiary

XL Insurance has acquired an underwriting and claims team from THB subsidiary Unicorn Underwriting in a move to strengthen its equine business.

The team of five is headed by Guy Morrison, who will become chief underwriting officer of equine and will lead XL Insurance's global equine operations.

XL will also pick up the book of bloodstock business formerly underwritten by Unicorn.

Unicorn managing director James Truscott said: “XL Insurance recognised the value of our market-leading bloodstock team. Unicorn's strategy has evolved and we saw that the skills and ambitions of the team would be better served within XL Insurance's infrastructure.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
