However bank refuses to confirm speculation

The bank active in lending UK brokers cash for expansion, Macquarie, is slashing jobs in Australia, a leading union has claimed.

The Finance Sector Union of Australia claims the bank is to make up to 700 job cuts. However Macquarie refused to confirm.

A Macquarie spokeswoman said the company had no comment on the union’s projections. All units look at their staff levels ‘constantly.’
