A US legal group has voted to back new laws limiting asbestos-related lawsuits.
The new rules aim to limit the number of lawsuits for non-malignant lung tissue injuries.
The move centres on claims that the number of cases has skyrocketed in the past few years.
The proposal before the American Bar Association (ABA) came after debate between members trying to limit the rising number of claims and those who feel the plan's impact on victims has been understated.
Studies show that noncancerous claims are the source of the current wave of litigation.
However, several studies have claimed that while the majority of claimants display, "changes in their lungs", asbestos exposure could be just one several possible causes.
