An in-house repair service has been launched by Britain's largest independent jewellery claims specialist.

Loss Management Group's new service is set to offer a better value solution for insurers.

Tony Le Fevre, managing director, said: “Claimants do not need to visit a jewellery shop, instead policyholders are sent a pre-paid security pouch to consign their damaged items to LMG.” The contents of each pouch is insured up to £20,000.

Specialists examine the item and assess the cost of repair. The insurer is then contacted to authorise any repairs or to be informed of the replacement cost should an item be uneconomical to mend. Substantial savings should be made since the retailer's margin is cut out and items assessed for the correct contribution from the insured.

A 12-month guarantee is attached to all in-house repairs.
