Members of the Vehicle Builders and Repairers Association (VBRA) could receive an 80% reduction on a new energy tax called the Climate Change Levy (CCL) if they reduce their energy consumption.

From April 1, all taxable businesses will be subject to the new charge, based on the amount of electricity, liquid petroleum gas, coal and gas they use.

But if members of the leading trade body representing vehicle body builders and repairers sign up to be part of their umbrella agreement and cut energy use over the next ten years, they may receive a rebate.

Businesses that are not part of the organisation may also join, but they will need to pay an administration fee.
