Virtual reality simulation using satellite imaging technology could soon replace on-the-ground assessments for some insurance risks, according to specialist risk and intelligence company, The Inkerman Group.

The company says virtual reality simulation and 3D modelling could be used to survey risks quickly and cheaply in areas such as marine, aviation and property, as well as assisting with flood and fire risks.

A joint venture formed by The Inkerman Group to combine satellite imagery technology with the simulation and 3D modelling capabilities of two Swiss companies has given UK firms access to an integrated solution for the first time.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
