The International Underwriting Association (IUA) board has postponed the appointment of a new chairman.

Tim Carroll confirmed he would stand down from the position at the IUA's conference in Gleneagles earlier this month after nearly two and a half years to “keep the position fresh”.

At that time, the board announced it would elect his successor during its first meeting on May 16.

But it has decided to delay its decision, following the recent formation of Ins-sure Services, which aims to unify and improve the back-office services supporting the London insurance market.

The board has decided to spend June 13 in central London to discuss the IUA's constitution and future strategy. Also on the agenda are the best structure to deliver changes and the role of the new chairman. In the meantime, the function of chairman will be carried out by deputy chairmen Tony Medniuk and Tony Latham.
