Democracy is great - but it does have its drawbacks.
At least that’s the sentiment that Lloyd’s chief executive Richard Ward imparted, with more than a hint of mockery, at a recent address to his members.
Asked about the market’s move into India, following a successful Asian beachhead in Singapore, he said with a dry smile: “I’m afraid in India you have to go through democratic processes.”
