Aon’s eco risk warning

Risk managers must view environmental risks as part of their core risk management, according to Aon Global directors, Bob Martin and Marcel Steward. They told the Airmic conference that environmental risks could be the largest potential liability for many companies, although they were often unquantified and unrecognised.

Capita acquires MVRA

Capita Group acquired motor trade body and accident management specialist, MVRA, for an undisclosed sum. MVRA will become part of Capita Insurance Services.

R&SA’s Russian move

Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) acquired 50% of Global Direct Insurance Invest-ments, a joint venture with Direct Insurance Financial Investments to access the fast growing East European and Russian insurance markets. R&SA will pay £44m in cash for its 50% shareholding together with a further £44m to fund future growth.

Novae entered the UK property market with the appointment of a former Wellington underwriting team, consisting of Mike Platt, Darrian Kempster, Barrie Roper and Tim Simpson-Lee.

Landlord scheme for Arc

Arc Legal Assistance launched its first tax protection scheme for the National Landlord Association. The scheme, provided in partnership with broker Hamilton Fraser, will provide cover for the professional fees associated with Revenue and Customs investigations.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.
