The lives of teenaged workers may be in danger because of law-breaking bosses, says a survey commissioned by Norwich Union.

Dying to Start Work revealed that health and safety procedures for workers under the age of 18 are overlooked in four out of five businesses.

Twenty young people were killed and more than 20,000 injured at work between 1998 and 1999, according to Government statistics. Norwich Union and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents have teamed up to reduce the number of accidents by raising awareness.

They have created a new website, at www.young-worker.co.uk, with advice on how to protect young people.
