Arson suspected as cause of recycling plant blaze

Zurich faces a “significant claim” after confirming it was the insurer for a West Midlands recycling plant destroyed in a suspected arson attack last Wednesday. Around 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at AWM Recycling, in Western Way near Walsall, at around 4am.

A Zurich spokesman said the claim is being handled by its dedicated major loss team, but it was still in the early stages and investigations were ongoing. Loss adjuster Teceris is also handling the claim. Giles Insurance Brokers is believed to be the broker, with some liability also placed by Lloyd’s broker Miles Smith.
