Financial guru and Council of Lloyd's member Alastair Ross Goobey was in a reflective mood last week.
Speaking at legal firm RPC's annual D&O seminar, he made this observation.
"I was thinking about how Lloyd's was named after Edward Lloyd's coffee shop over 300 years ago.
"If Lloyd's began today, then it would probably be known as Starbucks.
"Saying I'm insured by Starbucks doesn't really have the same cachet," he said, to much laughter.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
