The recent London Boat Show was almost set adrift after a state-of-the-art windsurfing pool collapsed shortly before the show was due to start, emptying thousands of litres of water on to the Docklands site.

The event insurer Insurex Expo-sure has set aside £200,000 for interruption-related claims, after the flood caused the windsurfers to lose several days of practice time and resulted in the curtailment of some of the Boat Show's events.

Insurex Expo-sure claims director Paul James said: "The windsurfers did lose several days practice, but we are just pleased the event went off smoothly after the pool was repaired."
