The crisis of liability cover availability has been well documented in Insurance Times for months, but seems to have had little impact on the world outside insurance.
And even now that evidence is emerging of real businesses shutting their doors forever because they can't get liability cover, it seems that business leaders are still pre-occupied with accounting issues and equity markets.
Zurich UK managing director Geoff Riddell told Backchat in amazement about a dinner he recently attended.
Spotting Confederation of British Industry director general Digby Jones, Riddell waited until the formalities were over before approaching the chief representative of UK business. Riddell, of course, asked whether liability insurance was an issue of concern for his members. Jones didn't seem too concerned - shame that many of his members are.
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
