XL hires property head from Torus

XL Insurance has hired Philip Sexton as international P&C onshore energy and general property manager for the UK, Ireland and Nordic region.

Sexton has joined from Torus Insurance where he was the head of UK & European general property incorporating onshore energy.

Sexton will be based in XL Insurance’s London office reporting into Matthias Horntrich, chief underwriting officer for international property.

Horntrich said: “We are delighted to welcome Philip to XL Insurance. His vast experience and industry knowledge will strengthen our ability and reach in the marketplace.

“This appointment demonstrates our commitment to growth opportunities in this area and enables us to provide a strong underwriting presence in onshore energy and international property – two of our priority growth areas.”
