Losses between £88m and £120.6m calculated

XL Group has announced a preliminary loss estimate of between $135m and $185m (£88m-£120.6m) for the Thailand floods last year.

The estimate is pre tax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums.

Around two-thirds of the losses relate to XL’s insurance arm.

XL also had additional losses of around $35m for catastrophe loss events from the first three quarters of 2011.
