Zurich's new head of claims, Bill Paton has denied he will centralise the company's claims handling functions.

Zurich structures its claims handling teams to sit alongside its four business lines - commercial, London, municipal and retail, with a different claims team for each.

Paton, who joined Zurich from Capita on 1 May, said: "We certainly don't have any plans to centralise our claims people," he said.

Zurich is currently reviewing all aspects of its claims handling process as part of its claims operating model project.

The insurer is currently rolling out a new IT platform, Zurich Automated Claims, developed in conjunction with The Innovation Group, which will see it move to a single claims platform.
