Four internal candidates in the running to replace Schiro

Zurich’s new chief executive officer will be either chief financial officer Dieter Wemmer, chief investment officer Martin Senn, chief risk officer Axel Lehman or Mario Greco, the CEO of the global life business, Bloomberg reports.

Only these four internal candidates are in the running to replace 63-year-old James Schiro, Bloomberg claims. Wemmer, 52, who joined the insurer’s Cologne-based subsidiary 23 years ago, and Senn, who moved to Zurich from Swiss Life in 2006, may be the frontrunners for the post.

A successor may be named next month. The insurer publishes first-half results on 6 August. The company considered external candidates, including RSA’s Andy Haste.
