Hunt on for a successor as James Schiro retires

James Schiro will step down as chief executive of Zurich Financial Services at the end of 2009.

Schiro, 62, who has been in charge since 2002, won't renew a three-year contract that will run out at the end of this year.

Zurich has started the search for a successor.

The story appeared in Swiss paper Cash, but was confirmed to Insurance Times this morning. Zurich said Schiro had said last year that would not renew his contract and that “rigorous succession plan” was in place.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
