Even a hairdresser familiar with outlandish gents' styles such as the comb-over, curly perm and mullet would have been stunned by Rob New's bizarre haircut request.

The Zurich personal insurance employee recently had his hair dyed blue and the company's Z logo shaved into the back of his head.

But confused onlookers would be wrong to think that New has joined a strange cult. His amazing haircut is designed to raise hundreds of pounds, which will go towards kitting out a local children's play centre.

Rob said of his bright blue hair: “It is a bit embarrassing walking around with a Zurich logo on your head, but I'm hoping the money I raise will make up for that.”


The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
