It is quite disgraceful that houses are still being built in flood prone areas without regard to the long term exposures to loss created for theb occupants or their difficulties, in accessing flood insurance, getting .or resellig the properties. At the least permissions for building in flood plains should be subject to builders building in hardening measures to minimise the scale of loss if a flood occurs.
