Type in www.fsa.co.uk looking for the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and you get through to the site of a Bournemouth IT company called Findlay Steele Associates.

This has caused a fair amount of confusion, not least for the regulator's solicitors who once erroneously sent Findlay Steele a confidential email about Equitable Life.

Findlay Steele has been using the address since before the authority was given its name in 1997 and the FSA has so far been thwarted in its attempts to take control of the address.

It looks as if the FSA has one option left - hard cash. Findlay Steele says it will listen to reasonable offers.
