Our news editor mixes with leaders in insurance and on the golf course

Wednesday

I’m at the Insurance Times Broker Leaders Forum in York. The back is playing up after yesterday’s fun on the golf course. My golf partner, Joe Henderson, picked up the award for the best individual performance. Good work.

Thursday

Love this story about the insurance fraudster who claimed he was housebound and then put photos of himself on Facebook holidaying in Italy. How stupid are these people?

Friday

My colleague Ben Dyson brings back stories from the Hiscox art party in Hyde Park. Highlights included Robert Hiscox’s tale of how he used to ride into the West End on his motorbike during lunch breaks due to a lack of art in the City.

Monday

I enjoyed The Open over the weekend. Darren Clarke, fag in mouth, shooting marvellously in blustery conditions, was a sight to behold. Why couldn’t I have played like that in York?

Tuesday

Deadline day and there’s a lot to get through as always …

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
