Our assistant editor, digital, has a week to remember, starting with the Biba conference in Manchester followed by West Ham’s Wembley win

Wednesday
Biba 2012 is finally upon us. An early start to prepare for a busy day of live reporting from a buzzing Manchester Central, where we are streaming interviews live to our website. I host a discussion on broker M&A with Stuart Randall, Michael Rea and Ian Clark - who tips Gallagher to make at least one more big deal this year. In the evening I bump into several chief executives in the Radisson bar.

Thursday
The morning after the night before and it’s straight back over to the conference, where I grab a bacon roll from the LV= stand. Around the hall there’s plenty of talk about motor insurer Equity Red Star, whose parent IAG has just announced it could put its UK arm up for sale. A quick dash around the exhibition to grab some freebies - including Lego cuff links from Ecclesiastical - and I’m back on the train to London.

Friday
News comes in from the Stock Exchange that Towergate is no longer in the running to buy Cobra, which comes as a bit of a surprise to all. As the day draws to a close, my mind turns to the small issue of the Championship play-off final.

Monday
“I’m forever blowing bubbles!” Still on a high after watching West Ham win at Wembley and return to the Premier League on Saturday. Our online traffic spikes when readers rush to read Robert Hiscox’s damning verdict of the ABI.

Tuesday
On the website I’m working on highlights from our video coverage at Biba. Make sure you check out our Broker Mind quiz featuring Brendan McManus, Stuart Reid and Paul Moors. It’s must-see viewing.
