Benfield's tropical storm risk (TSR) forecast has warned 2005 could be another year of extreme hurricane activity.

The forecast predicted hurricanes which make landfall in the US and the Atlantic basin will be above average over the coming year, at 55%.

The TSR anticipated a 76% probability of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season, an 18% likelihood of a near-normal season and 6% chance of a below-normal season.
