Allianz Cornhill has secured a deal to provide insurance for all new Fiat Puntos in the UK.

Former 24 7 Broking manager Phil Hayes brokered the deal via Derby-based scheme broker FSW as part of his new venture 2direct.

According to Hayes, who was head of insurer relations for Budget, 2direct selected Allianz Cornhill for the £1.5m deal.

Allianz Cornhill motor manager Neil Walker said: "Allianz Cornhill had no previous dealings with FSW, but worked with Phil Hayes for many years.

"It was on the back of this relationship that we listened to the Fiat proposition, and were impressed with the content of the presentation by 2direct."

It is understood that both parties are close to extending the deal to the new range of Fiat Punto's due for launch later this year, as well as to the Fiat Stilo and Seicento ranges. 2direct is also working on a number of other scheme arrangements on behalf of FSW.
