Insurers are bracing themselves for a spate of claims associated with the snow expected next week, says the AA.

The UK's biggest home and car insurance broker warned that many new drivers would lack experience of driving in seriously icy conditions.

AA Insurance director Neale Phillips said: "Whenever there is a cold snap, the number of claims always goes up.

"But the last time England and Wales suffered widespread snow and ice was in the winter of 1995-1996. Since then, 4.5 million new drivers have taken to the road and most will never have driven in such conditions.

"Fortunately, most people respond by driving more cautiously so although there may be many bumps, most will be minor."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
