History: On June 1, 1993, the company changed its name from Imperial Chemicals Insurance to IC Insurance.

It is a subsidiary of AstraZeneca, which owns 51% of the company. AstraZeneca is one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies, quoted on the UK, US & Swedish Stock Exchanges with global headquarters based in London.

Astra AB of Sweden and Zeneca Group of the UK officially merged on April 6, 1999, to form AstraZeneca and the merger became operational on June 1, 1999. The remaining 49% of the company is owned by ICI.
