Of firms involved in fraudulent credit hire claims, 85% did not subscribe to the ABI’s general terms of agreement, according to law firm Beachcroft. And over 46% of suspicious claims had a “phantom” element, such as hire vehicles and companies that did not exist.

Storm-related home insurance claims have risen 68% in the last year, with policy holders in central Scotland 117% more likely to make such a claim, according to a survey by Confused.com.
