A business traveller had an unintended brush with the short arm of the law when his laptop computer was stolen from a busy London airport.

The computer disappeared while the man was checking in his luggage. A helpful desk clerk suggested he look in the nearest men's toilets as this was often the place where thieves abandoned stolen items.

The man took the advice seriously and got on his hands and knees in the toilet to check a number of occupied cubicles.

At this moment, a policeman walked in and arrested the man on suspicion of loitering. It took four hours of hard persuasion before the man was released without charge.
