Sainsbury cashes in on mini dogs.

Sainsbury's Finance has claimed the publicity around celebs such as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson and Geri Halliwell and their pint sized pets has fuelled demand for ‘handbag dogs'.

Between 2006 and 2008, the number of ‘it’ dogs insured by Sainsbury's Pet Insurance increased by 41.3%.

However, Neal Devine pet insurance manager for Sainsbury's warns wannabee celebs that the cost of looking after a small pedigree animal is more expensive than for a cross breed. He said: “The most frequent claim for a small pedigree dog is for cardiac disease, which can run into thousands of pounds."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
