After a year of negotiations, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) has concluded discussions with the British Medical Association (BMA) over payments for doctors who complete medical reports for insurance applicants.
This will provide consistency for payments to GPs across the market. From 1 July 2002, the fee for completion of a General Practitioners Report will be £54. On 1 April 2003, this will rise to £60, along with the fee for a medical examination.
Head of health at the ABI Richard Walsh said: "We believe these new fees are fair and reflect the work involved for doctors in completing medical reports for insurance purposes."
Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
